London Southend

A large General Aviation airport located 1.5NM north of Southend-on-Sea. The tarmac runway is aligned 06/24 with over 1300M useable (see the Air Pilot for exact details). Runway 24 has an ILS and there is an NDB on the field, so it's a good place to brush up your approach skills,as well as your night rating, as the hours are H24 (30 pound supplement after 2300 local).

Fuel is available - LL100 and JetA1, as is a hearty meal in the very good restaurant at Aviators Flight Center (Located off the taxiway, about 300M short of hold Alpha - 01702-542497 for further details).

Circuits are LH on 06 and RH on 24, 1000' QFE, climb straight ahead to 600' on departure before turning on track (see Air Pilot for more details). NB: Southend has no CTR, only an ATZ, so access is very easy - just call ATC on 128.95 about 15 minutes out (you can even get ATIS on 121.80!).

The field has ATC and is used to mixing GA light singles and twins with turboprops and the occasional jet, so it's a good place to visit if you would like a change from grass fields.
Landing fees vary, so whether you are visiting the continent (it is a customs areodrome) - or just fancy a short cab ride to the "Southend Riviera" - why not visit EGMC and see Essex man at his finest!
